Cumberland Island Tour

Board the beautiful "Cumberland Princess" from the Fernandina Harbour Marina for a relaxing cruise to an island time has forgotten. The Ferry will land at Dungeness Dock where you will begin a 2-mile walking tour starting at the Ice House Museum. You will see the ruins of Dungeness, a once beautiful 40-room mansion owned by Thomas and Lucy Carnegie. "Leaf laden bough of live oaks hunch over the path to the wide beach, forming a lacy green umbrella of unending shelter," so writes one magazine writer describing her experience on Cumberland Island.

This southernmost of Georgia’s barrier islands, is a showcase of natural beauty and exists in a relatively undisturbed state. Be sure to wear your walking shoes and bring your camera, as your island guide will take you along roads of crushed oyster shells to explore this island. You’ll learn about the delicate untouched dunes, expansive beaches where wild horses gallop in the sea spray.

French and German speaking Tour Guides are available with advance notice.
